Designer Purse cake
This is a designer purse cake done for a birthday girl. Usually ladies carry in their bags, the various cosmetics shown but this one contains a speeding ticket. This person was recently given a speeding ticket and was being made fun of all the time for it. Looks like the embarrassment continues :P
It would have been much easier to do the lipstick, nail polish and eye shadow in fondant but I decided to make it more edible. So I cut those items out of cake, frosted with chocolate buttercream and covered with fondant.

Chocolate Fudge Layer cake
Fresh Fruit cake
This is a fresh fruit cake. I used strawberries, kiwi, peaches and cherry. I wanted to use chiffon cake but went with the angel food cake instead. The cake is layered and filled with vanilla flavored whipped cream and loaded with fresh fruits. I used the remaining whipped cream to frost the whole cake and made a floral arrangement on top using the fruits. The empty space on the side was used to write the birthday message using a chocolate frosting.

Kids' Special
Quick posting of a cake I made last month (yes, i have backlogs). This was for the birthday of a cute l'il one. She loves Elmo from the Sesame Street and her Mom wanted a cake with Elmo's picture on it. So I printed an edible image (Edible images are a popular decoration, printed on wafer/ rice paper using food colors) of Elmo to go in the center. Apart from Elmo, there were few other attractions for kids in this cake:
The cake has cookies in it. No, not just on the outside and not in between layers but I mixed Oreo cookies with the cake batter and so every bite had cookies in it. Now, is there a kid who doesn't love Oreos? IMO, NO.
The frosting that I used for this cake is white chocolate frosting, with strong emphasis on 'chocolate'.
Since her daughter's birthday dress had ivory and brown colors, her Mom wanted matching decorations on the cake. So I decorated the borders with ivory and brown colored M&Ms. I also arranged Oreo cookies cut in half (it was painfully time consuming and I ended up not using a lot of those since they broke into more than 2 pieces), all around the cake for extra excitement for the kids.
Conclusion: You can never go wrong with Oreo cookies, chocolate frosting and M&M's at a kid's birthday party :-)
Now, back to working on another special cake. Later!
